Jewels Of Faith

I see a great deal of religious jewelry worn these days wherever I travel. Is it my perception that people are grasping for spirituality in a world seemingly gone mad? Or, is it the case that people like to be recognized on a just-like-me basis? You can decide for yourself, I have to give it more consideration before I draw a final conclusion, if indeed there is one.
The religious pendants here are quite attractive in my estimation. The style presented is simply stated in French enamel accented with diamonds. The central pendant is a Chai, which relates to the Hebrew letters (het) and (yod) meaning "life." There is also a kabbalistic connection to the number 18 embodied in the symbol.

On a somewhat related tangent. I was wondering what would be a rate one could expect for a custom, yet rather simple, design for a ring? I obviously don't know much of jewelry, and in all honesty I don't have the resources currently to have any such work commissioned, though I do plan on doing so at some point in my life, but I was wondering what range one could expect to have if they wanted something like a solitaire 'princess cut' (I believe that's what it's called) diamond of a modest size placed either inside or directly above a gold, or platinum, square so that either the perception from looking directly above the face of the diamond, or in actuality, the middle of each side of the square ran tangent to the points of tangency on the circular edge of the diamond. I thought that the edges of the square might need some adaptation to keep the ring from snagging all the time. I don't know if placement, or some sort of augmentation, could be devised to make such more feasible for less bothersome use of the ring by the wearer.

I fully realize that if you answer this it will be out of the goodness of your heart. So I'd not hold you to any estimation in anyway.

If you can help it would be appreciated, even if it's just to point me in a better direction, if there is one.

This is a design that has personal significance to me, but one I've not seen available. That's what brought it mind when I read your title "Jewels of Faith"

No, I was wrong. It wasn't princess cut I was thinking of, rather "Brilliant" cut. Sorry.

Do you like to draw? Every custom design starts with a sketch. I appreciate your difficulty in describing what you have in mind. Round brilliant cut diamonds are increasingly expensive. Carat weight, color, clarity, and cut are all factors in price. I don't know where you live, but you won't go wrong if you patronize a store with well-trained people who can clearly explain the differences that determine price. If you were in Las Vegas, we could sit down over a nice cup of expensive coffee and discuss all of the factors and design concept.

I've experience in an industry that has a high degree of customization. I should have known better than to have thought I could get such an answer with such broad definitions. I do like to draw. Perhaps I could e-mail a sketch. But I don't want to take up your time as I still, in all honesty, wouldn't be able to commision a piece any time in the near forseable future, current economic inflows, while plenty sufficient to maintain me in my circumstances, leave a bit to be desired in terms of disposable income focused at purchasing custom jewlery for a woman that I'm not even certain I've met up to this point.

Thanks though for reading it and giving a response. If I'm ever down that way (in Utah currently) I'll have to see if we could meet up. But even a relatively short trip like that doesn't seem to likely very soon. Sorry I'm just one of the masses that always complains that everyone is trying to buy something from me for nothing, only to catch myself trying the same thing in so many circumstances.

Take care and best of hopes for you in your career. You seem of the most competent one could hope to purchase from.
